  • 10:00 – 11:15 a.m.  Panel: "Effective Student Leadership Programs and Strategic On-Campus Collaborations with Students
**Moderator: MNYCCPOA First Vice President, Diana Mendez
Hear from a panel of career services staff and student pairs on how they have worked effectively to offer career services and programming via career peer/ambassadors groups, student club leaders, and graduate internships relationships.

  • 11:15 – 11:30 a.m.  Business Meeting: Announcements Second Vice President, Mariela Torres, about MNYCCPOA committees (Communications, Professional Development & Social Events, Alva Cooper Awards) and from MNYCCPOA members about job openings at their career centers. 
  • 11:30-12:15 p.m.  Presentation: "Student Employment IS Real Employment: Best Practices for Hiring, On-Boarding, Training, Mentoring, and Preparing Student Employees for the World of Work" 
Presenter: Aimée Parks, Assistant Director of Human Resources for Student Employment, Monmouth University 
    In this "train the trainer" session, National Student Employment Association (NSEA) Certified Student Employment Essentials (SEE) trainer, Aimée Parks, will will discuss the best ways to foster real world, transferrable professional skills in our student employees as their supervisors and mentors. This presentation will include information about how to best educate our student employees on how to conduct themselves professionally in the workplace, and how to leverage their work-study assignments to land their next internship/job. Our presenter will also include information about state and federal student employment regulations to keep in mind when hiring and supervising student employees. The presentation will be followed up by a working lunch with breakout round tables where we'll discuss different student employment topics from the presentation, and come up with best practices to share with the membership. 
    • 12:15-1:15 p.m.  Working Lunch/Networking
    While enjoying lunch, each table will have a topic of discussion and a member of the group to take notes around the ideas gathered (15 minutes). After this activity, members will have time to openly network. All ideas gathered from the working tables will be sent to the attendees after the meeting. We encourage everybody to share business cards and continue the collaboration/conversation off line.
